Wed Nes Day

My favorite comics artist of all time, bar none, is Joe Kubert.

I didn’t read the credits as a little girl. I never learned the names of artists. But I knew Joe Kubert’s style and bought everything I saw with his distinctive line. He made guys look hot and women look amazing. He drew emotion in a…

Key guns, 1600s

‘Jailers’ keys were apparently filled with gun powder to create a primitive gun that could be detonated if there was any trouble when opening a cell door. We found several original versions that back up this claim, dating from the 17th century and of various complexity.’

Treehouse

I wrote a new story today.

It’s about a kid who builds a tree house for his friends, but he tears it down and rebuilds repeatedly because he’s never happy with it.

After several outlandish revisions he has to choose between the perfect treehouse (impossible) or a perfect summer with his friends (more possible).

A reflection on writing perhaps. I wonder how many drafts it will go through.

Expectations

I feel silly after letting everyone know a poem of mine was being published soon. The zine was delayed so I’ve heard from some people (mostly my mom, but people at work too) wondering where it is.

It’s awkward because it’s not anything special. And I don’t mean that to be down on myself. I’m not a poet. It’s not my goal. It’s a few simple lines that just happen to be the first public viewing of my writing. The more eager people I know are to see it, the lamer is feels.

I was ready for people to dismiss the poem as nothing, but I’m not prepared for people to think it’s something.

On Sunday Heroes Alliance Georgia had its first event of the year, visiting medically fragile children for an organisation’s Valentine’s party. I went as Supergirl and had a blast; the kids were a joy to be around and their smiles were infectious. Making them smile is the best feeling in the world.

Oh. My. God…. This. Is. Beautiful…. :’)

Next person who badmouths cosplayers gets my boot in their head.

I have seen scenes like these, over and over. Some cosplayer guilds routinely visit children’s hospitals and schools.

So much love, it’s ridiculous.

Sorry about all the reblogging without any posts of my own lately.

No promises, but I might get back to the legit Wednesday schedule soon.

But no worries, I’m still writing.

Woody Allen’s stand up. Very reminiscent of Midnight in Paris!
